Admission Process for 
Two-Way Immersion Program

1. Contact Soledad Carvajal, the Two Way Immersion Program Coordinator, at 831-429-3807 x

2. Soledad will sign you up to attend one meeting of the TWI Program Informational Night.

3. Child should be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2022

4. Must reside in the attendance area of one of the following Elementary Schools: Bay View,
DeLaveaga, Gault, or Westlake.

Open Enrollment window: FEBRUARY 18- MARCH 8 2022 at 5 pm


5. Beginning the open enrollment window, complete the online registration process here
https://sccs.net/parents___students/enrolling for the 2022-23 school year if your student is new to
Santa Cruz City Schools.

6. Once completed the online registration submit the required documents below to the school of
residence.
● Copy of Immunization Records Immunizations for School Requirements
● Verification of Age (birth record, birth certificate, baptism certificate, passport or
affidavit of the parent, guardian, or custodian of the minor)
● Proof of Residence (PG&E or water bill)

7. Once the registration is approved per your school of residence, file a 2022-23 Intradistrict
Transfer Application to TWI with a Verification letter and submit it at the school of residence.
The Verification letter is provided and signed by the Community Coordinator (Soledad Carvajal)

8. Your child will receive a language assessment if he/she speaks Spanish or is bilingual.

9. Once all steps above are complete, your child will enter the lottery.
After the lottery has taken place, you will receive a notification by mail in April 2022.
*Students are not accepted into Two Way Immersion after 1st grade unless they are
transferring from another English/Spanish Two-Way Immersion Program and are assessed
to be at grade level in both English and Spanish-dependent on space availability.
